I’ll give you a hint: it’s just as slow as you think it is.

I hope so, I just want it to feel like every piece was assembled with intention and care. I don't know the last time I drove something that felt like a home gave a shit about it. Maybe the E24, but that's about it

Not sure about that tire and wheel package. These look good with hubcaps or bundts. Nice ones are still in the 10-15K USD range, and probably won’t stray from that too much.

I am guessing the house is a 1920s Dunbar bungalow that last sold in 1988 for 55K, being made ready to put on the market for 2MM.

I agree, I mostly don't like the white walls though. The weaves are what it came with I think, it's an imported German car and I guess they got more options than us. This one is nice from 5-10 feet, and its standard. It needs restored though, that'll happen one of these days. Right era for the house I believe, he actually bought it in 2007 or so for 600k, and it was appraised at 1.7 about 6 months ago, so who knows what it is now.....he's not selling though, just switching from stucco to cedar

I think those wheels are from just after when the car was made (this is an earlier run 114, before 1974). They aren’t MB wheels, but they are old and would have been an aftermarket item back in the day. They might work better on a C123.

For this coupe, restoration would be a labor of love, as a full restoration would cost 200%+ of the value of a concours car, just like with my fintail and most other postwar closed MBs. These coupes are still somewhat of a bargain, unlike the insane battleground of laundered dirty money and speculation known as Vancouver real estate.

Oh that does sound more likely, you’re probably right. Yeah, we’ll see what happens when he gets to it. The interior has already been completely redone, and quite well too. What it needs is to be stripped and have all the little rust spots sorted, and hope there aren’t many big ones....

Yeah the real estate is insane. Unless something drastically changes I'm not even pretending I could ever own property here

They are neat little cars, just hard to jump into head first. The interior would be the easy part. These days, even a moderate paint and bodywork job is probably 10K, without any chrome work. Engine rebuild would be at least as much. One like this would be the one to buy, as it apparently has few needs, as neglected ones are often beyond redemption.

Here’s one that’s been on local CL for months, looks nice and has history - but no buyers at this price.

I live just a little south of you, I can relate. It’s not as insane as Vancouver, but teardown shoeboxes in my area can bring seven figures, and those are greenbacks. I could only afford a condo, which combines all the freedom of an apartment with the expense of a house, and the ROI of a savings account.
